- Simeon De Witt (1756-1834) was Geographer and Surveyor General of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and Surveyor General of the State of New York for the fifty years from 1784 until 1834. The correspondence consists of letters from De Witt to John Randel, T. R. Beck, and Benjamin Silliman; and letters to De Witt from Thomas Eddy and James Geddes, all relating to professional matters.
