- Irving, a British conductor, who served as music director of the New York City Ballet from 1958 to 1989, briefly speaks about his current work with the ballet company; the program he is going to conduct at the forthcoming Lewisohn Stadium concert including a long lost pas-de-deux from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake; the intricacies of conducting ballets; his activity during the WWII and after; his work outside of his responsibilities with the NYC Ballet; his familiarity with conducting ballets; his collaboration with Balanchine, and discusses with White British composers Edward Elgar and Frederick Delius.
