Summary
  1. Disc 1, June 22, 2011 (approximately one hour and one minute). Dana Reitz speaks with Sara Rudner about her family background and early childhood; studying various musical instruments; her education; studying in Japan and the influence of that experience; exploring and studying dance to find the aspects that personally resonated; taking class with Alfredo Corvino; moving to New York City; significant experiences during this period including working with Twyla Tharp and seeing Meredith Monk perform.
  2. Disc 2, June 22, 2011 (approximately 50 minutes). Dana Reitz continues to speak with Sara Rudner about her work with Twyla Tharp; working with Laura Dean; touring in Europe; living in Munich during the 1972 Munich Olympics and the impact it had on her; her hiatus from dancing and considering whether to undertake medical training; her decision to return to dance and create her own work; being injured and the impact of this on the developing of her own movement vocabulary; other creative influences during this period including Elaine Summers; tai chi, drawing, and jazz music; working with Robert Wilson and Philip Glass on Einstein on the beach; touring with the original production and performers including Andy DeGroat and Lucinda Childs; working with Malcolm Goldstein on her piece Between 2; her developing ideas about the creation of group works.
