Summary
James Boswell (1740-1795) was a Scottish lawyer, diarist, and author. He is best known for his biography of his friend and contemporary, Samuel Johnson. The collection consists of a small quantity of letters written by Boswell between 1766 and 1788 to Sir Andrew Dick, Baronet of Prestonfield; Mr. J. Spotteswoode, and other unnamed recipients. The letters are generally of a social nature, often referencing Boswell's writings and the writings of others.
