  1. Anna Leonowens (1831-1915), born Anna Harriett Emma Edwards, was an Indian-born British travel writer, educator, and social activist. The papers consist mainly of letters from Leonowens to prominent businessman and lawyer Gordon Lester Ford and his daughter, Kathleen. Other items include announcements for lectures presented by Leonowens, announcements for the 1876 opening of Avis Leonowens' kindergarten and her marriage to Canadian banker Thomas Fyshe, and newspaper clippings.
