Summary
Documentary on the creation of the Broadway stage musical Ragtime, based on the novel by E. L. Doctorow, which premiered at the new Ford Center for the Performing Arts in 1998. Includes excerpts from interviews with members of the show's creative team, along with rehearsal and performance footage. The program also covers the design and construction of the theater itself, built in space formerly occupied by the Lyric and Apollo theaters, and which incorporated some architectural elements salvaged from those buildings. The project is discussed by several of the architects and designers involved.
