- Steve Harrigan is a pseudonym for the British author William Maconachie.
- The anti-hero of these two novels, as well as several others by Harrigan, bears the author's pseudonym. The character is a tough-talking, street-smart, former crime reporter with an eye-patch, wealthy from good luck betting on the horses, and who enjoys the New York scene, high and low, as playboy and master sleuth.
- Dope Doll appeared originally in Britain as Champagne and Choppers! (London, Hamilton & Co., [1950?]), under the pseudonym Bart Carson, also the name of the playboy detective in that edition; The Bigamy Kiss appeared originally in Britain as Hedy-Like Wine (London, Hamilton & Co., (1950?]), also a Bart Carson novel.
