Summary
The principal speaker is Burrows with Crouse and Lindsay (their voices can not be traced individually) making additional remarks. Burrows talks about the musical satire "Happy hunting," written by Lindsay and Crouse, that played at the Majestic Theater, NYC, directed by him and starring Ethel Merman. He discusses the important aspects of producing musicals and analyzes a few of them, compares the attendance of the theatre and its appeal, speaks about the difference between serious and entertaining spectacle and what people look for in a musical and in a play, points to the lack of romance and tenderness in contemporary drama and films, and explores the essence of humor in writing a comedy or a farce.
