  1. Joel Grey introduces Leonard Bernstein, an American composer, conductor, author, music lecturer and pianist, on his 60th birthday celebration at Wolf Trap. Grey interviews various performers and guests at Bernstein's birthday party such as cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, vocalist Christa Ludwig, musical-comedy duo Betty Comden-Adolph Green, and others during the intermissions. They discuss their work and long-term friendship with Bernstein. Also includes biographical and professional information about Bernstein, excerpts from interviews with pianist Andre Watts and choreographer Jerome Robbins conducted by William Schuman for WNET-TV's Skyline series, and Bernstein's interview conducted by Grey and Humphrey Burton for the BBC.
