Summary

1. Documentary on the career of director Elia Kazan, from his early years as an actor with the Group Theatre in the 1930s, to his work as a stage director on Broadway and as a filmmaker in Hollywood. The emphasis is on Kazan's films, and in an extended interview he discusses his experiences with actors such as Marlon Brando, James Dean, Montgomery Clift, and Lee Remick. Includes numerous excerpts from films Kazan directed.
