Summary
  1. Nathaniel Sheafe Waldron was a Brevet Major in the United States Marines. His letter book dated October 4, 1831 to February 18, 1857, contains correspondence while stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, New York, Tampa, Boston, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Letters include brief references to Indian troubles in Florida and tables of marine statistics.
  2. The volume also contains the following logs kept by Waldron: cruise of the U.S. Frigate Hudson, commanded by Captain John Orde Creighton, from New York to Rio de Janeiro and Monte Video, from September 26, 1828 to January 22, 1829; U.S. Frigate Boston, commanded by Captain Creighton, from Monte Video to Buenos Aires, January 23 to February 7, 1829; and U.S. Frigate Brandywine, commanded by Captain Jacob Jones, from Rio de Janeiro to New York, August 27 to October 9, 1829.
