Summary
Set designs for Act I of the ballet La sylphide, which takes place in an interior. Between them, the two designs, which divide stage right and stage left of the set, include the four elements necessary to the action: the armchair in which the hero James dozes at the beginning of the act, the hearth, the open window through which the Sylphide makes one of her entrances, and the stairway for the entrance of Effie, James's fiancée, and other characters.
