Diaries belonging to Almon Harris Thompson, explorer on Powell's Colorado River Expedition, and to his wife, botanist Ellen Powell Thompson. Ellen Powell Thompson's diary was kept from 1872-1873[?] while traveling with her husband on the Colorado River. Almon Harris Thompson's diary, June 7-September 18, 1875, relates to the second exploration into the region in southeastern Utah around Freemont River, Escalante River, Aquarius and Kaiperowits plateaus, Henry Mountains, etc.
