- Summary
- Photographs of educators, dating from the 1920s to the 1980s, depicting primarily African American educators, some Africans and other people of African descent. Items consist of studio portraits and a few group portraits, candid shots and views, some probably use for publicity purposes and/or in publications. Portrayed are college professors, some college presidents, and a few school teachers, principals, and superintendents. Among the educators depicted are Clarence A. Bacote, Lionel C. Barrow, John W. Blassingame, Wilfred Cartey, James Colston, St. Clair Drake, Sir William Arthur Lewis, and William Seraile. Images from the 1920s to the 1950s are limited.
