- "Written and engraved by Richard Wagener. Twenty-six ... short fictions ... are obliquely related to his biological alphabet of twenty-six accompanying wood engravings ... There are an additional twelve engravings used as backdrops for the initial letters used to signal each suite"--Prospectus. The "backdrop" wood engravings are printed in russet, with the letters in black; the "biological alphabet" is printed in black and white.
- "Designed and printed on Zerkall paper by Peter Koch & Richard Wagener. The text was composed in Ehrhardt type by the Golgonooza Letter Foundry. The book was bound by Peggy Gotthold"--Colophon.
