- Summary
- John Q. Roods of Newark, Ohio kept this diary and notebook from September 28-November 10, 1847, recording details of his trip from Newark to Cleveland, Ohio, thence to Wisconsin Territory, where he visited Sheboygan, Milwaukee, East Troy, Janesville, Geneva, Madison, Waterford, and Racine. He then traveled to Chicago and returned home via St. Joseph, Kalamazoo, Detroit, Sandusky, and Mansfield, Ohio. His final observation was that the land in Wisconsin was very poor.
