- Summary
- Linda Lavin discusses her career as a performer on stage and television with columnist Michael Riedel. She discusses her early theatrical influences as the daughter of a professional singer, noting that her mother's singing career was hindered by attitudes towards working women during the Depression. Lavin describes her formative years performing in summer stock, her experiences in several Broadway shows including It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman, and the 1989 revival of Gypsy, her television work in the situation comedy Alice, and her impressions of colleagues such as Harold Prince, Jack Cassidy, and others. She also talks about her work as an acting teacher.
