Footage of performances of the Meredith Monk retrospective intercut with talking head interview question responses where Monk discusses the influence her childhood and her cultural heritage had on her development as a choreographer and composer. Songs featured in the documentary include Gotham Lullaby, Jade (Old Woman's Song), Prairie Ghost, St. Petersburg Waltz, Click Song #1, Volcano Songs Duets: Walking Song, Vessel (excerpt), Do You Be?, and New York Requiem. The documentary also features a short excerpt from Monk's film Book of Days.
