- Summary
- The Students for Federal World Government organization was established at Northwestern University in Chicago in 1946, renaming itself World Republic in 1947. World Republic was concerned primarily with the "people's convention" approach to world government; and disagreed with the approaches of the largest world government organization, United World Federalists, refusing an invitation to join them in 1947. World Republic remained active through at least 1953 as one of the leading student world government organizations. The records of World Republic are composed primarily of correspondence, meeting minutes, addresses, and articles relating to the activities of the organization within the world government movement. Materials range in date from 1946 to 1953.
