Summary
This program focuses on Ethan Stiefel's tenure as Dean of the North Carolina School of the Arts School of Dance. Dance performances by UNCSA students are interspersed with commentary. Stiefel speaks about how and why he took the job, his experience as Dean, his changes to the school's curriculum and efforts to create a well-rounded study program, and his feelings about teaching. Larry Keigwin discusses bringing his company to the school as company in residence, his choreographic process and use of improvisation, his interactions with the students, and the setting of his work Natural selection on the students and his company.
