Summary

1. Actor Elizabeth Ashley and critic John Lahr discuss Tennessee Williams' drama Cat on a hot tin roof with hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins. Ashley, who portrayed Maggie in the 1974 Broadway revival of the play, talks about her preparation for the role and shares memories of working with Williams. Lahr examines the play and how it might have reflected Williams' career difficulties at the time he wrote it. Ashley and Lahr also discuss the current Broadway revival featuring an all-African American cast, and voice their opinions on this casting decision. Brief excerpts from the revival are included.
