  • Illustration: Engraved frontispiece, with a portrait of Margarot above an engraved text quotation from the trial; published by H.D. Symonds, Feb. 17, 1794.
  • Margarot, a prominent member of the London Corresponding Society, had been charged for sedition for his involvement in a 1793 Edinburgh meeting of political reformers. He was convicted and sentenced to fourteen years' transportation to Botany Bay.
