- Actor George Wendt discusses his role as housewife Edna Turnblad in the Broadway musical Hairspray, based on a film by John Waters. Wendt, whose performing career begin in the improvisational comedy troupe Second City, explains how this training and his work in the TV series Cheers prepared him for a demanding role in a stage musical.Composer Adam Schlesinger and lyricist David Javerbaum discuss their collaboration on another stage musical based on a John Waters film, Cry-Baby. They explain how they came together as a songwriting team, describe their working relationship with Waters, and also perform a song from the show entitled Screw loose. Brief excerpts from the show are included.
