Biography
Max Cohen, lawyer, professor and author, frequently worked with jazz musicians and other performers who needed to vacate drug-related arrests in order to be licensed to perform in nightclubs. Cohen led the suit to overturn the NYC cabaret or "police card." Comedian Lenny Bruce was one of his clients then, and in a narcotics case in Philadelphia in 1961.
