- Summary
- Intermission features an interview with Eugene Conley, a tenor and professor of music at North Texas University, conducted by Don Gillis and taped in Texas, who speaks about his experiences with working for Toscanini for whom he first sang around 1940. Later, in the 50s, he worked for maestro again with the cast of younger singers, and points to the fact that Toscanini had more nervous stamina than any of them, and could go tirelessly rehearsing longer than they could. He also talks about the "performance tension" of each rehearsal which made these rehearsals with maestro almost like performances.
