Summary
Victoria Martin is a thirteen-year-old experiencing many of the difficulties common to teenagers, particularly a communication gap with her mother. Beginning with a fall on a crowded subway, Victoria finds herself in the year 1944. Victoria's companion on this journey is a girl named Cici. As events unfold, Victoria discovers that she is in her grandmother's house and that Cici, a contemporary, is really her mother. As the two girls get involved in many misadventures, Victoria sees her mother in a new light. Their shared experiences and problems allow Victoria to realize that all grownups were once teenagers.
