Description
1 videocassette (50 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
In early 1984, a librarian in Odense, Denmark, while clearing out some uncatalogued archives, discovered some instrumental parts identified as a "symphony by Signor Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart." After months of research by musicologists and manuscript specialists, the work was identified as a lost orchestral piece composed by Mozart when he was 12. This tape records the first public performance of the youthful Mozart symphony in 215 years. Linked to the performance of the Symphony in A-Minor K.16-a is a documentary sequence explaining the history and authenticity of the recently-claimed work, its discovery and reconstruction, and its place in Mozart's life.
