- Summary
- This animated film is the story of a "semi-barbaric" king with a strange sense of justice and his beautiful but jealous daughter. In accordance with the monarch's decree, men accused of a crime are subjected to trial by fate. In a public arena, they must choose between two doors. Behind one is a ferocious tiger, behind the other, a comely maiden suitable for an immediate marriage. When a handsome but low-born youth is caught dallying with the king's daughter, he is sentenced to the test of the doors. Counting on the love of the princess whom he knows has discovered the secret of the portals, the young man heeds her hidden signal. As he strides confidently toward the appointed door, the viewer is left to conjecture his fate, the lady or the tiger?
