- Summary
In this silent comedy, Barbara Manning, a young woman who, since childhood, has been made to think she is sickly, visits an island sanitarium inherited from her Uncle Edgar. The cowardly caretaker has relinquished the place to a gang of rumrunners to use as a headquarters and battlefield to oppose their enemies, the hijackers. Barbara believes that the rumrunners and an undercover newspaper reporter, disguised as one of the gang, are patients. The reporter, having fallen in love with Barbara, asks her to leave because he is afraid she will be harmed. She refuses and comes to his aid when the gang, suspecting that he has informed Barbara of their activities, attacks him. Barbara fends them off with chloroform and surgical instruments, discovering that she is not feeble after all. Another uncle, concerned about her health, arrives to find our heroine robust and holding the rumrunners prisoner. (Does not circulate).
