Summary
This animated adaptation explores the feelings of children when a newborn brother or sister joins the family. Once the center of attention, Lucy is resentful of her new baby brother who is noisy and a sloppy eater. Unable to cope with the situation, the usually neat and responsible Lucy leaves her bed unmade and her toys laying about. She refuses to eat her carrots and help her mother with household chores. At night, Lucy tries to frighten Chuckie, but the baby remains unperturbed. In fact, his first word is "Lucy." With this development, Lucy realizes that her place in the family will never be taken away and begins to take an active interest in the new family member.
