Follows America's pioneer social photographer on his odyssey through the mines, mills, and factories of industrial America in the first half of the twentieth century. Hine's images and writings are combined with rare period footage and interviews. Hine photographed immigrants at Ellis Island, child labor, industrial and migrant workers and the construction of the Empire State Building.
