- Description
- 1 film reel (20 min.) : sd., col.; 16 mm.
- Summary
- Seven, elderly Oklahoma women - Native American, African-American and white - recount the rigors of their lives on the Great Plains, especially during the dust-bowl days of the 1930's. Based on interviews with Oklahoma women from ages 85 to 101, the film combines the stories of the women's lives with a poetic vision of the land. "The voice of our grandmothers rises out of the sound of the wind and fades into the sound of the summer locust. We see the hands of a grandmother as she weaves her beads or stitches her quilt, her eyes as she looks out over the land which has been so powerful a shaping force in her life."
