- Summary
- The story of a powerful Chinese ruler who loves horses. When the position of chief groom for the royal stables must be filled, he gives his new employee, Han Kan, an important task. He must find a "superlative horse" as a test of his ability to judge horses. Han Kan's choice is an unusual one and proves that neither people nor animals can be judged by outward appearances only.
