- A close-up view of the dramatic struggle between two species of birds, the North American Puffin and the Herring Gull. Their delicate population balance has been upset by man's pollution of coastal waters. The barren rocks of Great Island, off Newfoundland, is the setting for this battle for survival. The camera captures the life cycle of each species and their interaction.
