- Description
- 1 videocassette (60 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- It is estimated that ninety percent of all felony cases in America are disposed of through plea bargaining. Judgment and sentence are arrived at in backrooms, in judges' chambers, over the telephone, or in courthouse corridors. The defendant does not go to trial or have his or her case heard in a public courtroom. This program provides an exposition of this "invisible" process by which criminal cases are disposed. The viewer is permitted to observe the negotiations between defense counsel, prosecutor, and at times, the judge.
