- Summary
- This adaptation of the Poe tale is noted for its ornate decor and "full-blooded gothic horror." In 16th century Spain, Francis Bernard journeys to the castle of his brother-in-law to investigate his sister's mysterious death. Treachery and madness characterize this classic horror tale that culminates in the dreaded torture chamber with its deathly pendulum. The commercial success of the film initiated the Poe cycle of the sixties. (Does not circulate)
