Summary
Told in flashback, this film combines cynicism and comedy to tell the story of a cad who lies and cheats his way through life, only to meet a hero's death in war. Expelled from Oxford for a foolish prank, Vivian Kenway goes from bad to worse in a series of odious escapades. He disgraces his upper-class family by failing in a respectable job, has an affair with his best friend's wife, and swindles a wealthy Austrian woman out of her fortune.
