- Summary
- In 1961, the fictional Mariah Johnson (Whoopi Goldberg) led a group of young Black activists in a sit-in at a "whites only" lunch counter. Less than thirty years later, Mariah finds that her teenage cousins, Justin and Kerry, have little awareness of Black history. Mariah transports the two young people back in time to that momentous day in 1961 where they experience first-hand the sacrifices made for civil rights.
