- Summary
- In the 21st century, a gigantic metropolis is controlled by an authoritarian industrialist who lives with his son and collaborators in a paradisical garden. The working class lives a harsh existence in a squalid subterranean portion of the city. A robot is created which incites the masses to riot. Crushing the revolt, the ruler, nonetheless, yields to his son's demands for social change. Lang's science fiction drama was derived both from the traditions of expressionism and medieval myth.
