- Summary
- The language of steam trains crosses political barriers as a BBC-TV crew discovered during the filming of this documentary. Despite the 1982 imposition of Martial Law in Poland and the prohibition of foreign television units, they were allowed to film the little steam engines affectionately known as "chukchas." The trains may go at a steady 25 miles per hour, but in Poland, they are still the main means of transportation from village to village.
