5 film reels (pt.1, 126 min.; pt. 2, 129 min.) : si. b&w.; 16 mm.
Summary
Halted before completion, parts of this filmed footage were released but not in the intended form. The aim of this film is to summarize Eisenstein's plan and to restore a few fragmentary sequences from the unfinished "Que Viva Mexico!" without attempting to convey the final form the footage would have taken. Includes material from the prologue and from the three novellas on which shooting was complete: "Sandunga"- the story of the Mexican Indian uncontaminated by alien cultures; "Fiesta"- a romance of Spanish-influenced colonial life; "Maguey"- a story of the colonial peonage.
