Summary
  1. A panorama of Russian cinema's social impact: Antosha ruined by a corset (Antoshu korset pogubil) is a racy, knowing urban comedy. A life for a life (Zhizn' za zhizn'), also know as, A tear for very drop of blood (Za kazhduiu slezu po kaple krovi) and The rival sisters (Sestry sopernitsy), marked the pinnacle of Bauer's ambition to equal lavish foreign production standards. The funeral of Vera Kholodnaia records, containing newsreel coverage of the funeral which took place in Odessa in 1919, records the vast public response to the early death of one of Russia's greatest stars.
