Summary
  1. Two-part promotional documentary on the stage musical The pirate queen, featuring the music and lyrics of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil. The show concerns Grace O'Malley (1530?-1603?), an Irish revolutionary who engaged in piracy and came into conflict with Queen Elizabeth I. The first portion of the documentary, entitled A new musical, focuses on the genesis of the show and the 2006 premiere engagement in Chicago, Illinois. The second portion, A Broadway journey, focuses on preparations for the Broadway premiere. Includes rehearsal footage, performance excerpts, and excerpts from interviews with the creative team, performers, and audience members.
