- Disc 1 (ca. 32 min.). Rouben Mamoulian speaks with Don McDonagh about Martha Graham's health in early 1970s; Eastman School of Music in Rochester; living in England and being asked by George Eastman to run the opera theater in Rochester; Eastman and the theater, and the opera productions staged there; working with Martha Graham at Eastman; Graham's role in preparing students for stage productions.

Rouben Mamoulian speaks with Don McDonagh about the Eastman theater productions and the Kilbourn Theater at the Eastman school; working with Eastman; Eastman's eye for stage production and lighting; the revolutionary use of back lighting and spot lighting in theater productions; working with George Eastman; Mamoulian's use of stylized performances; music by Igor Stravinsky [The rite of spring] and Graham's use of music in her choreography; Walt Disney's use of Stravinsky's score in the film, Fantasia; working with Agnes De Mille at Eastman on a production of Oklahoma; anecdotes of working with De Mille at Eastman; working with the Composer's guild; staging Porgy and Bess on Broadway [abrupt end].
