Helen Low speaks with Don McDonagh about Martha Graham, and attending high school with her in Santa Barbara, Calif.; Graham's life before becoming a famous dancer; Graham moving to L.A. to study the dramatic arts; Graham playing on the high school basketball team, and the outfits they wore; Graham being shy and retiring at the time; meeting Erick Hawkins when Graham and he were in Santa Barbara; Graham's family, including Geordie and Mary, and her mother and father; having tea parties on the beach; the city of Santa Barbara in their youth in the 1920s.
