Summary
Bruno Zirato, manager of the New York Philharmonic, personal secretary of Caruso, a long time friend and colleague of Toscanini, speaks with admiration about him and recalls their friendship and mutual work. Ever since Maestro started his work at the New York Philharmonic, Zirato never missed a single performance, and having known throughout his career over 70 different conductors, states that in his opinion none of them came even close to the genius of Toscanini. He also remembers him as a simple and even humble man, a perfect host, a good human being, and denies that Toscanini was difficult, saying that rumors of his bad temper were greatly exaggerated.
