Cassette contains recording of semi-annual dinner board meeting for New York Shakespeare Festival. Joseph Papp starts the meeting by honoring board member Susan Stein Shiva, who had died in Jan. 1983, by naming a theater in her memory. It was noted that the newest board member, Bess Myerson, was unable to attend. Discussions about NYSF shows included "Plenty" being made into a film starring Meryl Streep, the end of the "Pirates of Penzance" tours, and new British-based shows such as "Fen," "Buried inside extra," and "Egyptology," which are discussed at length. The segment about television shows, however, was recorded at low volume. Papp also talks about his involvement with the protest group Save the Theaters. The remainder of the meeting focuses on financial matters (Chemical Bank representatives gave a presentation) and upcoming plays and events before the audio is cut abruptly.
