Program devoted to stage magic and the escape arts, with emphasis on the career of Harry Houdini. Kenneth Silverman, author of a biography of Houdini, discusses his research for the book, much of which took place at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Host George Schindler and performer Andy Dallas discuss the history of the Society of American Magicians, of which Houdini was once president. Several tricks are performed with the assistance of audience volunteers.
