Summary
  1. James Lipton hosts an evening of discussion with actor Susan Sarandon. Sarandon discusses her upbringing in a Catholic family in New Jersey, the eldest of nine children; attending The Catholic University of America; unexpectedly landing her first part in the motion picture Joe (1970); her work in the soap opera A world apart; and her roles in such films as The Rocky Horror picture show (1975), Pretty baby (1978), Atlantic City (1980), The witches of Eastwick (1987), Bull Durham (1988), Thelma & Louise (1991), and Dead man walking (1996), for which she won an Academy Award. The discussion is illustrated with clips from some of the works discussed. Sarandon discusses the difference between acting for the stage versus film; and the future of women in motion pictures. A brief question and answer session with Sarandon and the Actors Studio master's degree students concludes the program.
