Summary
Peter Nichols, whose 1967 play, A day in the death of Joe Egg is currently being revived by the Roundabout Theatre Company, speaks with Theater talk hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins. The play concerns the effect on a couple's marriage of raising a hopelessly handicapped child. The British playwright expounds on how he came to write the play, he and his wife's experiences raising a severely disabled daughter who later died, and his use of humor to address the play's serious theme. Nichols also speaks about his plays Passion play, National health, and Born in the gardens.
